Sodium zirconium phosphate (NaZr₂(PO₄)₃) is a multi-functional inorganic material with unique ion-exchange properties, a high specific surface area and good thermal stability. Applications include antibacterial materials (antibacterial masterbatch, medical devices, antibacterial fibres, ceramics and coatings), medical uses (regulating K⁺ and Ca²⁺ electrolyte balance in hemodialysis, wound dressings), environmental protection and catalysis (heavy-metal adsorption, catalyst carriers) and electronics and new energy (solid electrolytes for sodium-ion batteries, low-expansion ceramics). Its sodium ions are readily replaced by other metal ions such as Ag⁺ and Zn²⁺.
